Aldosterone

Aldosterone | A hormone involved in the regulation of sodium ion concentration in the blood. Aldosterone is secreted from the adrenal glands in response to low levels of sodium ion concentration, and subsequently stimulates active transport of sodium ions from the nephrons (kidneys) into the blood. Thus, aldosterone helps regulate the balance of salt and water in the blood / body fluids.
