Alpha helix (α helix)

Alpha helix (α helix) | a helical folding pattern in the secondary structure of proteins where a linear sequence of amino acids folds & coils into a right-handed helix stabilised by hydrogen bonding. The most common of the secondary protein structures in which the helical structure is held together by weak hydrogen bonds between the N-H and the C=O groups of the helix.
