Androgen | Group of male sex hormones responsible for the stimulation and development of the testes and secondary sexual characteristics. Testosterone is the most important of the androgens, primarily produced in the testes when stimulated by luteinising hormone. Androgens are also produced in smaller amounts by the adrenal glands (and the ovaries in females).
